Spring 2024 Jobs for Life Class
When you launch a class with only five participants you can find yourself wondering if perhaps you are doing something wrong or are just wasting your time…
Our spring Jobs for Life class was one of those times for me.
Fortunately, I recalled the wise words of a friend who also works in a nonprofit. He said to me in passing one day,
“Tony, you serve those God brings your way and your serve them AS IF God brought them your way.”
So, that is what we did! We launched our Jobs for Life class of five participants. We spoiled them with good food, helpful content, guest speakers, and A LOT of attention, not only from their Champion (mentor) and class facilitator, but from all the other Champions as well. Each gathering we celebrated positive growth steps forward and we prayed for one-another when discouragement or roadblocks were encountered.

Three of our participants moved to new and higher paying jobs.
One participant received a 40% raise in her current job and is currently being considered for position with a 60% increase.
One participant moved from part-time to full-time position with her current employer that she loves and this position also included a raise.
These results are staggering to consider when I think that we could have cancelled the class due to lack of interest.
I am thankful for the wise words of my friend who helped me appreciate and understand the gift of those that God brings our way.
It makes me wonder too who He might be bringing your way?
