Serve as a Mentor

  • Faith Informed

At Cornerstone, we firmly believe that all transformation is the work of God. Rather than claiming to "change lives" as staff or volunteers, we understand our role as participating in the ongoing work that God is already doing in the lives of our participants. It is essential for all volunteers to embrace this perspective and believe in Jesus' transformative power in their own lives and in the lives of those we serve. Furthermore, all Cornerstone curriculum is rooted in biblical principles of transformation. To learn more about our approach, visit What We Believe

  • Sustainable

Our dedication to our participants goes beyond their graduation from our classes. We gather in alumni events after graduation to provide ongoing support and motivation to one another. Furthermore, we have established programs that accompany and assist our participants for over a year as they navigate challenges, set and pursue goals, and deepen their faith journey.

  • Community

Isolation is something we actively combat! Our leadership thrives on a team-oriented approach. No volunteer bears the burden alone. Throughout your service, you'll receive ample support and resources from our class facilitators, fellow mentors, and staff members. Moreover, Cornerstone has a dedicated Director of Community Care whose sole focus is to provide you with the support and care you need while serving.

Attend Compassionate Service Training!

Volunteers are essential to Cornerstone's mission, yet our primary focus is on serving our participants. We recognize each individual we serve as bearing the image of God and deserving of our utmost care. To become a mentor, we require completion of four training sessions totaling eight hours. During these sessions, we cover effective volunteer leadership practices and the principle of "helping without hurting." Our next training session begins on Monday, February 3. While attending training does not guarantee an immediate placement (which depends on participant numbers), it does qualify you for opportunities as they arise. Interested in serving? Another way to volunteer—bring a meal!

Each Cornerstone class begins with a meal. This is an important way for our participants and mentors to reconnect prior to class content. If you or your group would like to bring a meal, hit the button below!
