Volunteer Spotlight - Sean
CornerStone would like to spotlight one of our amazing volunteers, Sean Plouse! Sean is the Branch Manager for CB&S Bank on University Drive. He has worked in/around banking for over 30 years. He not only brings his vocational wisdom but his own experience living through the chaos and insecurity of generational poverty. Sean grew up in a home where he learned to do without and ironically was fearful of bankers. Because of his commitment to break the cycle of financial struggle, he and his wife paved the way for their daughter to live differently! The cycle was broken in his own family but how could he find a place to encourage others as they embarked on that same journey?
Sean began to volunteer with CornerStone while still remaining skeptical of what navigating a path out of poverty could actually look like through a financial literacy class. He quickly realized that this was a family atmosphere that created a judgment-free community offering loving support and resources. Sean has now been an ally for three semesters of Faith & Finances and currently serves as a mentor in our year-long Amplify cohort. He is approachable, energetic, and brings a sense of fun and ease to every class. Participants feel safe and comfortable with him because he offers authentic friendship and care. He is vulnerable in sharing about his own struggles which disarms those around him. Sean has spent countless hours making himself available to assist participants with budgeting and financial planning while offering encouragement all along the way. CornerStone is blessed to have a volunteer like Sean who pours into others generously and selflessly.
