Meet LaNandi
LaNandi got connected with CornerStone’s F&F class after being referred by a former graduate of the program. She was seeking guidance as a single mom navigating the challenges of her finances. When we met LaNandi, she had just been forced to move herself and her children in with a family member because her rental property had been sold out from under her. Her prayer throughout our 12 weeks of class was to be able to find an affordable place for her and her children to live. Thankfully, her prayers were answered when Huntsville Housing called to let her know that she had risen to the top of the waiting list and was approved for an apartment. Not only was this worth celebrating, but we were also able to introduce LaNandi to the ministry of Lincoln Village and their Evolve Program. Her application is now submitted, and she is prayerfully awaiting approval for a beautiful, transitional home for her and her children.
From her very first interview to participate in CornerStone’s “Faith and Finances” program, LaNandi showed an eagerness to learn and grow in this area of her life and seemed committed to carving a new path for herself and her kids. Paired with her ally in the program, Michele, the two forged a strong connection. Throughout the 12 weeks, they were able to share stories about their lives and come to the realization that they have more similarities than differences. Michele's past experiences as a single mom created a foundation for a common bond between them. Each week in class, LaNandi was a beacon of fun and enthusiasm, always encouraging others and celebrating their victories. Even with the concern of her own significant needs, LaNandi showed an unwavering determination while participating in every aspect of F&F.
LaNandi’s generosity and sweet spirit extended to sharing her class experience at our graduation ceremony, becoming a beautiful example of optimism and strength in the face of adversity. She has now worked incredibly hard to pay off outstanding debts and has even started an emergency fund. Her resilience and determination inspire those around her, showing that even in challenging circumstances, one can radiate optimism and work towards a brighter financial future.
Witnessing LaNandi’s joy grow as she became better equipped to navigate her family’s finances was wonderful. However, witnessing her experience a renewed understanding of God’s never ending love for her and her children was a privilege!
