Meet Michael and Chelsea
Meet Michael and Chelsea, proud graduates of Faith & Finances 2023 and soon-to-be homeowners through Habitat for Humanity. Chelsea signed up for F&F with excitement, eager to learn more about how to take control of her finances and pass on these valuable lessons to her daughter. On the other hand, Michael, a self-professed introvert, was not as excited about signing up to join 35 people for dinner and group work each week.
Michael and Chelsea were paired with allies Shawn and Ricky, another married couple, who provided unwavering support during the 12-week class. As they gathered weekly, trust deepened, and a sweet friendship began to grow. Shawn and Ricky shared personal stories, unveiling shared pains and commonalities that strengthened their connections.
Despite Michael's initial uncertainty, he soon recognized that Faith & Finances was more than a class; it was a supportive community genuinely invested in his well-being. The entire F&F class and leadership team celebrated alongside them when Michael and Chelsea announced their recent selection of a Habitat lot for their future home! Their allies, Shawn and Ricky, have become more than companions—they've become lasting friends. In fact, Michael and Chelsea are contemplating the possibility of serving as allies themselves in the future.
Because of their hard work and deep commitment to being free from debt, they are only months away from being debt free! Chelsea and her ally, Shawn, are dreaming of how they can unite in their passion to serve single moms in the future, while Rick and Michael are destined to be active fishing buddies when spring returns.
Chelsea and Michael are a resilient couple that has faced more than their share of hardships with grace, maintaining a spirit of joy and an unwavering faith. The story that God is writing in their lives is a testament to the transformative power of Christ – and how He chooses to use others in our lives to encourage us for the journey.
