One day or day one?

I recently saw the motivational quote above. I had to think about it a minute before I understood what it was seeking to communicate. The quote is getting to the heart of the matter for those of us who wish to improve some aspect of our lives. The choices really are clear when given the opportunity to engage something difficult. Will we say that we will begin “one day” or are we going to say, “I’m ready to begin day one”?

We discovered some folks who are ready!

Last week 15 students began “day one” of Cornerstone’s Faith and Finance class.  During our student interviews prior to the class we heard a common theme—the students desired to begin new, healthy financial habits but did not know where to begin or who to trust to help them..

We were struck by the courage we witnessed as each student openly shared the challenges they were having in their finances.

Each student was vulnerable and honest with our team, and exhibited a great amount of trust in us as they shared their stories. For the Cornerstone staff these stories were a gift and, in a sense, a responsibility.

We believe in our students and in their “day one” because we believe—

Jesus is making all things new, including our money and relationships.

This is what we know, and this is where we put our hope.
